The Oldest Active Car Club In Montana
Each August, the Igniters Car Club holds their annual car show on the streets of Libby. The Igniters Car Club was established in 1961, making it the oldest active car club in Montana. This year the event runs Friday & Saturday, August 14-15 and will be the 49th anniversary of the open car show.
Ignite The Nites is one annual event our entire town eagerly awaits and enjoys for two full days of exciting activity! Our main street comes alive with the rumble of supercharged engines, sweet vibs from meticulously rebuilt vintage motors and the wine of the gear driven camshafts!!!
There are a wide variety of vehicles exhibited including classics, antiques, muscle cars and even drag race cars. If you're into checking out stock original or modified vehicles, it's there for the looking. Friendly camera totting town folk and visitors enjoy the pristine painted rigs and great conversation with the proud owners and builders.
This event has grown each year with almost 250 entries in recent years. The show features categories for Best of Show, People's Choice, Most Improved and other categories for specific types and vintages of automobiles and motorcycles. Vehicles are lined up along Mineral Avenue allowing people to wander on the street viewing the vehicles and talk with the owners.
Friday is registration, cruising, poker run, a flame-thrower and neon contest. Saturday is the formal car show day, with awards and the burn-out afterwards.

Very nice article. When my father used to come up he and I would go to old car shows. Nice memories.
loved the hub and loved the photos, the old cars have such character, today most cars look almost the same to me but the older cars are much easier to identify.
This is great fun. Greg used to have a '32 roadster and his ''55 chevy that he showed. He would have loved this! Great, now I'm all misty eyed-again.. Thank you for making me smile!
Thanks all :-)... there is just something about the nostalgia hot rods conjure up in all of us huh!!?? And, the bright shiny colors of the paint jobs, are kind of like crayons used to be when we were kids.... now that we're big kids, only the toys have changed!!! Thanks so much for stopping by to read my hubs... I have such fun taking photos of vintage cars!!!! The old ones bring back memories to so many of us...even if it was just an uncle yelling at us to "stop touching my car" :-). I remember one time, trying to show off, climbing on top the hood on one of my dad's mint condition mustangs!!! OMG, that was the last time I ever thought I could climb on to someone's hood!!!! He never hit me or anything, but how he looked at me in that moment, said it all!!!! I climbed down and never did it again!!!
